Our collaboration with Happy Tooth involved creating a lead-gen form that integrates seamlessly with Shopify and uses Klaviyo for marketing automation. We focused on collecting user data to generate personalized water quality reports, utilizing backend scripts for real-time data updates and automated report distribution.

In the ever-evolving landscape of e-commerce, the integration of lead generation forms stands as a pivotal element in establishing a direct connection with customers. These forms are not merely tools for data collection but are gateways to personalized user experiences — a concept we fully embraced in our recent collaboration with Happy Tooth, a company specializing in producing fluoride-free toothpaste. They tasked us with creating a lead-gen form designed to ask for a ZIP code and personal information to generate a tailored report on local fluoride and pH levels. This approach leverages the collected data to craft personalized emails, a strategy often referred to as dynamic content personalization in the e-commerce ecosystem.

For the front end, we designed a form as a dynamic section, which was later seamlessly integrated into the Shopify environment using Shopify’s Page Template API. This approach provided the flexibility and customization capabilities essential for harmonizing with Happy Tooth’s existing Shopify theme. The form asks a user to provide their ZIP code and personal details, which will later be used to generate a personalized water quality report.

For the backend, we developed a database of USA water quality data. We also used Google Geocoding API to convert the customer’s ZIP code into a state name, enabling us to formulate precise database queries to retrieve the relevant water quality data for the user.

To maintain the database’s accuracy with the most recent water quality data, we also set up a monthly cron job. This job triggers our scripts to refresh the database with the latest information from the Water Quality Data source, ensuring the data remains up-to-date and includes any new updates or corrections to the existing records over the past 12 months.

Integrating Klaviyo was a pivotal aspect of this project, enabling the harnessing of its robust marketing automation capabilities. After the backend processed the water quality information, we configured custom events in Klaviyo to automate sending personalized water quality reports to the users.

This project reflects our approach on using technology effectively to enrich the e-commerce experience, focusing on practical solutions that directly benefit the client and their customers.

We successfully combined Shopify’s adaptable front-end features with our sophisticated backend processes and Klaviyo’s marketing automation to deliver a customized service that enhances customer engagement and trust in the Happy Tooth brand.
